Operation Jump Start is a Long Beach community based organization dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth, with academic promise, excel academically, graduate from high school and go on to college.

OJS helps these children by providing each with a dedicated mentor, who provides the student with five years of continuous guidance, leadership and coaching, beginning in 8th grade and continuing through high school graduation.

Help Us Help the Kids! Our next college tour in March of this year will be to San Diego State University. Once again, OJS is inviting parents to come along and join in on the fun, exciting, and safe tour of the academic buildings and dorm rooms.

What We Do Works!

Despite dismal high school graduation rates in the greater Long Beach area, Operation Jump Start graduates defy the odds:

• 100% Graduate from High School
• 97% Attend College Immediately After High School
• 85% of College Entrants Attend a 4-Year College or University

Operation Jump Start provides disadvantaged students the opportunity to participate in activities that help them grow as people and college applicants. Through a variety of educational workshops, cultural activities, social outings, college tours and community service events, OJS motivates students for higher education, increases student self-confidence, cultural sensitivity and a sense of belonging and participation in their community.
